What swimsuits make you feel good and confident these days? I’m always drawn to styles that feel both sporty and sophisticated, so I’ve been loving the pieces from Summersalt…
The Summersalt mission is to design swimsuits that help all women “feel sexy on their own terms, exactly how they are.” So, the Summersalt team collected 1.5 million body measurements from 10,000 women of different shapes and sizes to create a line of timeless and comfortable swimsuits and clothes. This gorgeous one-shoulder suit quickly became a best seller and has been called “the unicorn of swimsuits.” Curious, I asked the Cup of Jo team which Summersalt pieces they’d love to wear, and here’s what they said.
First up: myself! For years I stuck with two swimsuits: a white bikini and black one-piece. But lately I’ve been mixing things up. The spaghetti straps of this beautiful blue suit remind me of my ballet classes in high school, they feel so graceful and delicate. I also love the contrast piping on this one-piece. It’s understated and pretty, and would look effortless with a linen button down and jean shorts.
Our partnerships director Maureen goes for suits with a striking plunge. “V-necks have always looked best on me. I wish I was a scoop neck girl (how pretty is this one!), but they just don’t work for me. I like how this one-piece strikes the right balance of elegant and sultry. The flirty tie waist is also a super cute touch.”
Our California-based editor Jannelle is all about punchy bikinis that offer supportive coverage. “To me, the perfect suit is a bikini that makes me feel sexy but also keeps everything in place when I’m trying to keep up with my toddler. I’d feel cute wearing this leopard number. This print with swept up hair and gold hoops is giving snatched girl summer. I also like the shape of the high-rise bottoms.”
Contributing writer Kelsey Miller likes romantic touches and has been eyeing this one-piece made in collaboration with Mestiza. “The ruffled shoulder brings out my Victorian side, which wants to romp about in white nightgowns and tea dresses,” she says. “But it’s also substantial enough to stay put when I dive into a cold lake and do underwater handstands.”
