Aakash Chopra did not want Rohit Sharma as Test opener

Venkatesh Prasad and Aakash Chopra, two former India cricketers got engaged in a debate on Twitter over KL Rahul. KL Rahul’s rough patch has been a point of concern for the Indian cricket but Indian team management wants to back him and trust his talent. While some like Chopra has been in the same zone like the team management, Prasad has criticised the selection for choosing Rahul despite his constant failures.

Prasad ends discussion

The Twitter saw both former cricketers arguing over the issue. When Aakash Chopra criticised Venkatesh Prasad for calling out KL Rahul, the latter came up with an old tweet by Chopra. In the old tweet former Indian opener was seen mocking Rohit Sharma. Sharing the same, former Indian bowler wrote, “This is what Aakash had aired when Rohit was 24 with 4 yrs in international cross. He can use sarcasm for Rohit at 24, and I cannot point out underperforming Rahul at 31 with 8 years in International cricket. Yeh bhi sahi hai”. Following the same Aakash Chopra invited Venkatesh Prasad for a video chat but Prasad did not show much interest to continue the discussion.

When Chopra denies Sharma as Test opener

Meanwhile fans did not miss the chance to join the same and one of them posted an old video of Aakash Chopra where the veteran cricket was talking about Rohit Sharma’s chance as a Test opener. When he was asked whether Sharma should be tried as an opener, Chopra said, “Rohit shouldn’t be tried as Test Opener. Ghar par light chali jaaye to aap electrician ko bulate hain, Plumber ko thodi na bulate hain”.

We all know what happened to Rohit Sharma’s Test career after he was given the opening slot of the Indian cricket team. While fans are enjoying the show, these blasts from the past might be little awkward for Aakash Chopra.
